I grew up on the family cattle station near Mt Coolan and attended secondary school at All Souls in
Charters Towers. It was good grounding for me to progress to managing the family cane and cattle
operations at Mackay.
For 35 years up until August 2020, I ran the day-to-day operations of the farm and for the last 15
years, I had a focus on soil health, managing biological function to improve soil for increased
productivity and better environmental outcomes.
Awarded a Nuffield Scholarship in 2014, this became a pivotal point in my learning and desire to
share my knowledge whenever the opportunity arose, giving me the confidence to stage numerous
field days on various aspects of regen ag. Attending numerous short courses such as those listed
below has strengthened my practical knowledge.
• Grazing For Profit (RCS)
• Advanced Course in Agricultural Business Management (Royal
Agricultural University UK)
• Certificate in Sustainable Agriculture (NTS)
• Nuffield Scholarship – Soil Biology
The sale of the family farm in 2020 has allowed me to follow my passion and progress to the next
stage in my life’s journey and join the team at Soil Land Food as a Regen Farming educator and
consultant.
