Janet Roberts

Janet Roberts is a PhD candidate with the Centre of Horticultural Science at the Queensland Alliance for Agriculture and Food Innovation (The University of Queensland). She studies the pathology and ecology of Fusarium wit in banana with a focus on subtropical race 4 (STR4). She has a Bachelor of Sustainable Agriculture in Horticulture, a Bachelor of Science in Plant Science (Honours Class I), a Bachelor of Creative Arts in 3D Animation, and commenced her PhD in 2023. Some of her research experience includes microbiology, molecular biology, glasshouse pot trials, molecular diagnostic analysis and design, data collection and analysis for high-throughput crop phenotyping, genetic manipulation of crop traits via CRISPR, and seed and soil analysis for the domestic and international agricultural industry. Janet’s first paper was published last year (2024) reviewing the current status and challenges of the available diagnostic methods for Fusarium wilt in banana.
