Dr Nandita Pathania is a Senior, Plant Pathologist with Department of Primary Industries, Queensland Australia, whose research focuses on bacterial diseases affecting tropical crops. With over a decade of field and laboratory experience, she is recognised for her contribution to the understanding, diagnosis and management of bacterial pathogens that threaten sustainable production in tropics. She led multidisciplinary projects aimed at combating bacterial wilt, papaya crown rot, heart rot of pineapple and phytoplasma diseases using integrated system-based approach and developed aeroponic seed potato production system for smallholders in Philippines. She is a passionate advocate of capacity building and has mentored several overseas researchers, technical staff, and graduate students. Currently, she contributes disease diagnostic services to stakeholders, and National R&D collaborative banana IPDM and papaya extension project to develop ecofriendly biological options for disease management.
