Tony Pattison

Tony Pattison is the Principal Nematologist with the Queensland Department of Agriculture and Fisheries based at South Johnstone in north Queensland. Tony has been working on disease suppressive cropping systems for bananas for the past 23 years, firstly on managing plant-parasitic nematodes to reduce the reliance on chemical nematicides. More recently he has been involved in projects to develop suppressive cropping systems to Fusarium wilt of bananas.

Why are you excited about participating in ABIC 2017?
The Australian banana industry is facing serious challenges from pests, diseases and sustainability issue.  The innovations being made with the current research activities are bringing the latest technology to the way bananas are produced to overcome the new sets of challenges. The Australian Banana Industry Congress provides a forum where the latest innovations can be highlighted to the entire banana industry, to grow the confidence of banana production in Australia.
