The 2015 Banana Industry Congress is pleased to welcome delegate partners and family members to Melbourne for the Congress. A partners’ program has been established for the benefit of partners and families, to make the most of the trip to Melbourne, and to showcase some of Melbourne’s delights. The below two activities have been arranged.
Bookings for both of these activities are essential.
You do not have to be a registered accompany person for the Congress to attend these activities. They are open for all partners and family.
High Tea – Sofitel Melbourne on Collins
High Tea decadence can be enjoyed at Sofi’s lounge with a buffet selection of freshly cooked crepes, elegant finger sandwiches, hot and cold savouries, freshly baked scones with home-made jams and whipped cream, a selection of cakes and desserts with a glass of sparkling wine and tea or espresso coffee. Sofi’s Lounge is an expansive gallery featuring an array of exhibited artworks, fresh flowers, natural light and a lofty ceiling.

Departure information: Departure will be from the Crown Promenade Foyer at 2.00pm.
Travel will be via Maxi taxi. For those not staying at Crown, or those who may already be out & about are welcome to meet at the Sofitel at 2.30pm.

Winery Tour – Domain Chandon – Yarra Valley
Located at the southern end of the Great Dividing Range, the Yarra Valley offers a rich diversity of terrain varying from the cool valley floor to the colder Upper Yarra Valley slopes. The winemakers work with a number of Yarra Valley growers and take advantage of this diversity to craft wines of characteristic Chandon complexity and finesse. The expert staff pour ‘splash’ tastes of a selection of their sparkling and still wines, introducing the elements that make each one unique. Learn all about the winemaking process in an entertaining and informative way on a tour that reinforces Domaine Chandon’s position as a world-class wine tourism destination. The tour route offers unrivalled exposure to a world-class winery at work, with impressive graphic displays and engaging panoramic Story panels, which reflect the company’s diversity in wine production and give detailed process and production information.

Cost: Approximately $65 based on 20 people – to be confirmed based on numbers. The ‘Brasserie’ offers a range of delicious platters to share at patrons own expense.
Inclusions: Bus travel, guided tour and wine tasting.
Departure information: Departure will be from the Crown Promenade Foyer at 8.00am. Travel will be by mini bus. The bus will return to the Crown Promenade Foyer at 1.00pm.
